Once again we are at that time of year where we get to celebrate the life of Scouting’s founder Lord Robert Baden-Powell. It all started when he authored “Scouting For Boys” in 1908 and since then Scouts has grown to be in more than 162 countries around the world. There are not very many people who have never or know someone who has never been in a scouting organization. Scouts brings children together and teaches them the fundamentals of life and gives them memories to cherish, no matter if they involved for 1 year or 10 there will be something that they will never forget.
2nd Leduc scouting has opened its doors for more that 30 years now taking the words and teachings of Lord Baden-Powell to heart. Things like “We must change boys from a ‘what can I get’ to a ‘what can I give’ attitude” or “The real way to gain happiness is to give to others”. We try give something to the youth of the community and let them grow into mature adults who will be the leaders of tomorrow. With so many distractions in the world today it is nice to still offer an opportunity to the youth to “unplug” and enjoy our beautiful earth for what it has to offer.
So please join me in celebrating Scout week from Feb 15-22 and do something good for your family. Go for a walk, have a campfire or just take a little quiet time to spend with your children. For it is them who will be your future!
